Lara "LJ" Johnson arrived in the US from the UK ten years ago with a laptop and a brain, slept on couches, sacrificed meals to pay rent, and built a business from nothing to a million dollars in one year. Four and a half years ago she lost her infant son Jack and nearly died the same night — blood pressure at 53 over 37, she used her psychology training and a 5-4-3-2-1 sensory technique to slow her own heart rate and buy doctors the time that saved her life. From that tragedy she built the Global Grit System: four elements (get it done, reframe thinking, impact others, take responsibility) and four grit types, plus five non-negotiable pillars from a gallon of water a day to clean eating.
