Keith Gillard

Cleantech Investor & Co-Founder, SUSARO

Cleantech investor who has managed capital for Mitsubishi, BASF and Samsung, now building sustainable aviation fuel from wood.

ABOUT
Keith Gillard is a Canadian cleantech investor and dealmaker who grew up watching his entrepreneur father partner with MASH actor Gary Burghoff on a frozen yogurt venture — a public failure that normalized entrepreneurship for him. After startups in software and a stint in investment banking, he was headhunted by Mitsubishi Corporation into cleantech venture capital and went on to manage investments for BASF, Adidas, and Samsung. Today he leads SUSARO, commercializing the world's only TRL9 wood gasification technology for sustainable aviation fuel as global mandates ramp toward 2030. On episode 072 of Return on Identity, he explains why companies fail because of people, not technology, and why education is the shortcut.
