Des Hague survived six years of an abusive, poverty-driven childhood with a raging alcoholic, left home at 15, and was homeless — then ran a fish and chip shop, opened the first video store in the north of England, and was managing multiple stores by 17. Told by a boss he'd never rise above low-level management, he used it as rocket fuel: Pizza Hut manager of the year, Domino's in Poland, leadership at Safeway's $20B+ perishables business, 7-Eleven's 32,000 fresh-food locations, IHOP, and CEO of Centerplate, the event hospitality giant. Rejected by an MBA dean, he barged in, demanded an aptitude test, and graduated magna cum laude with a 3.92. Author of Think Your Way to the Top, he has served on 20 boards, helped raise $100M for causes, and now leads Raw Foods in living nutrition.
