Carla Navarrete es una médica especializada en medicina estética que regresó a Ecuador en 2020, en plena pandemia, con formación de España y México. Proveniente de una familia de abogados, eligió la medicina, y años de voluntariado con Operación Sonrisa atendiendo labio y paladar hendido moldearon su enfoque: la estética como autoestima, no como vanidad. Pasó de 2–3 pacientes por semana a 20–25 al día trabajando sola, educa a sus pacientes para romper tabúes estéticos en Ecuador, dice no a la dismorfia corporal y a las expectativas irreales — 'no todos los pacientes son mis pacientes' — y aboga por la regulación de un mercado donde peluqueros, spas y dentistas inyectan.
