Ben Reinberg started with nothing in Chicago, earned an accounting degree at Indiana University, became a CPA, and founded Alliance 31 years ago. His first deal — a 95,000-square-foot industrial building financed through a presentation to his godfather's bank board — tripled in four years. Over 32 years he built a $500M commercial real estate portfolio and became a leader in medical office properties, with renewal rates in the upper 80s, and launched the Alliance Medical Property Fund. Author of Hard Assets and Hard Money for Hard Times, his rules are simple: always have the ability to hold, never overlever, never do a deal for fees, and protect the downside so the upside takes care of itself.
